A striking Scandinavian modernist brooch designed by Börje Rajalin for Kalevala Koru, dating to the 1960s. This sculptural piece features a smooth concaved centre with warm golden plated tone, framed by a sleek polished silver — a refined and minimalist form typical of Rajalin’s mid-century design language.

Rajalin is one of Finland’s most celebrated jewellery designers. He became head designer at Kalevala Koru in 1956 and was instrumental in ushering in the era of Finnish modernist jewellery. His clean lines, sculptural simplicity and strong artistic identity helped pave the way for Finland’s international design recognition during the 1950s–60s.

Hallmarks: Kalevala Koru makers mark, Finnish crown mark, Helsinki Assay, 916h for 916 grade, Helsinki Assay mark, date letter L7 for 1964.
