An antique Finnish silver brooch dating to 1907. The open circular shape comes from traditional ancient Finnish brooches a form with roots going back to medieval jewellery and dress fastenings.
This example has particularly lovely hand engraved decoration, with different patterns worked around the silver and across the central bar. Made in Finland during what is internationally known as the Edwardian period but very much a traditional Finnish design.
Hallmarks: Makers mark for Anders Holming, Finnish crown mark, 813H for 813 grade silver, date letter B5 for 1907.
Size 5.1cm x 4.1cm.
This has been cleaned and polished ready to wear.
Wear commensurate with age.
