Unusual antique Finnish bodice brooch made from a graduated row of old Finnish silver coins, dating from the late 1800s into the early 1900s. The coins pre-date Finnish independence and are joined together to form a long flexible piece with a brooch fitting at either end.
This type of jewellery was made to be pinned across the bodice or other sturdy part of traditional dress. The different coins vary in age, size and silver content, giving the piece a lovely sense of Finnish history.
Length 21cm.
This has been cleaned and polished ready to wear.
